PROGRAM NOTE
Son para Luis y Mara is an arrangement for viola of my violin piece Son para Luis, one of six solo works that belong to the collection Los musiniños encuentran un tesoro. The composition is inspired by the Cuban genre son; its rhythmic elements pervade the work. The use of different bowing and extended techniques add to the pallet of colors brought forth by the music.
